Our program is dedicated to providing the best possible experience for the children and families involved in this ministry. Children will be engaged in daily experiences that foster a love for learning in a secure environment surrounded by the love of God.
Our private preschool is located just south of Blakeney in Weddington directly off of Rea Road. We are proud to offer our families the lowest teacher-student ratio in the South Charlotte / Union County area which includes: Weddington, Waxhaw, Blakeney and Marvin. Our families greatly benefit from our personal approach, attention to detail and certified teaching expertise.
Meet Dana
Dana Platé is our Preschool Director at St. Margaret’s Preschool. Dana brings a great deal of expertise to the program including a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, a BA in Psychology and Child Development and over a decade of teaching experience!

Our Philosophy
St. Margaret’s Preschool promotes a “Whole Child Approach” based philosophy as we strive to nurture each child individually as they grow developmentally, socially, academically and spiritually.
Curriculum
At St. Margaret’s Preschool we implement multiple curricula to best support our “Whole Child Based” philosophy. Lesson planning, by our certified teaching staff, intentionally balances both creativity and academics to best meet the individualized needs and abilities of every child in our program.
Preschool Staff
St. Margaret’s Preschool is highly unique in that we only hire Lead Teachers who have certification in the field of teaching as well as professional background experience. Our highly dedicated staff has cumulative teaching experience exceeding 150 years.
Student Age
Our Preschool offers classes for ages 2 through 4. All children must be the appropriate age on or before August 31st of the current school year.
(Please note that no exceptions will be considered)
Teacher / Student Ratio
We are proud to offer our families the lowest teacher / student ratio in the South Charlotte / Union County area which includes: Weddington, Waxhaw, Blakeney and Marvin.
Additionally, every classroom is intentionally filled with both age and gender balance in mind to support the most optimal classroom dynamic in which every child thrives.
Our Twos classes have a certified Lead Teacher, a full-time
Teacher Assistant and a full-time Floater.
1:3 teacher / student ratio.
Our Threes and Fours classes have a certified Lead Teacher, a full-time
Teacher Assistant and a full-time Floater.
1:5 teacher / student ratio.
School Hours
St. Margaret’s Preschool operates from 9:00am to 12:45pm, Monday through Thursday. Our program follows the Union County Public Schools calendar.
Daily Routine
A daily schedule is posted in each classroom and will consist of activities that build on security, independence, creativity, early academic concepts and a genuine love of learning! Your child’s daily schedule will include creative and academic centers in small groups, collaborative table toy exploration, outdoor play, a structured whole group circle time, hands-on art experiences, music and movement, both small and whole group lessons, snack and lunch. A Music program is offered, once a week, by a qualified Music teacher. Meaningful, age-appropriate, value-based Chapel lessons are once a week for our Threes and Fours age groups.
To ensure a safe, secure entrance and departure for your children, the preschool adheres to a carpool policy. This policy requires all ages to be escorted to and from the car during both drop-off and pick-up by preschool staff.

Three Year Old Class (must be potty-trained)
2 Teachers + Floater with 14 children (7:1 ratio)
Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday $375/ Month
Monday-Thursday $405 / Month
Four Year Old Class (must be potty-trained)
2 Teachers + Floater with 14 students (7:1 ratio)
Monday-Thursday $415 / Month
* There will be no partial tuition refunds in the event of unplanned closings, scheduled holidays and / or inclement weather

When You Arrive
Our program makes the children’s safety and security a top priority. In order for any visitor to enter the facility, we ask that you please park in the front parking lot (off of Rea Road). You can then press the button on the silver pad to the right of the locked brown doors to request entrance for a preschool tour.

Registration Information
New Potential Students
Parents are encouraged to please call the preschool office to ensure that your child’s class is available and not on a waiting list prior to submitting the registration form.
All students must have the following to become registered students
- Completed registration form
- The Children’s Medical Report Form (including the current immunization record)
- Paid registration fee ($150 per child / $125 per additional children). There is no additional supply fee.
Please note:
The registration fee is non-refundable. The registration fee guarantees a place for your child in the program and helps provide supplies for each classroom.
All children enrolled at St. Margaret’s Preschool must be current with North Carolina immunization requirements. St. Margaret’s does not accept any waivers or exemptions for immunizations.
